Qualifications
Server Administration
Manage and maintain organizational servers and related infrastructure.
Monitor server performance, availability and storage capacity. Install and manage software updates, security patches and system upgrades.
Perform server recovery procedures when necessary.
Monitor and test data backup systems to ensure business continuity.
Network Management
Manage and optimize network performance and internet connectivity.
Monitor network capacity, security and reliability.
Support network configuration and administration.
Provide recommendations for network improvements and enhanced security.
Support the installation and configuration of network equipment and devices.
Systems Security
Monitor and maintain organizational cybersecurity measures.
Review firewall logs and security alerts.
Ensure security software is updated and functioning effectively.
Investigate and respond to suspicious activities and system vulnerabilities.
User Support and Maintenance
User Support and Maintenance
Provide technical support to staff on hardware, software and connectivity issues.
Diagnose and resolve ICT-related problems in a timely manner.
Support installation, configuration and maintenance of user devices and software.
Provide guidance on best practices for the use of organizational ICT resources.
Data Backup and Recovery
Ensure regular backup of organizational data and systems.
Conduct periodic backup verification and recovery tests.
Support cloud-based and on-premises backup solutions.
Email and User Account Administration
Manage user accounts, permissions and access rights.
Create, modify and deactivate user accounts as required.
Administer organizational email services and mailboxes.
Support password management and enforcement of access control policies.
Monitoring and Reporting
Monitor system logs and cloud services for performance and reliability.
Maintain documentation of ICT assets, configurations and changes.
Submit periodic reports on work undertaken, system status and recommendations.
Provide prompt support for critical system failures and emergencies.
Procurement Support
Provide technical advice during procurement of ICT equipment and services.
Support installation, testing and commissioning of new ICT equipment.
Deliverables
The consultant will be expected to:
Maintain stable and secure ICT systems.
Provide timely technical support to users.
Ensure reliable data backup and recovery processes.
Submit periodic service reports detailing activities undertaken, issues identified and recommendations.
Advise management on improvements to ICT infrastructure and security.
Required Qualifications and Experience Applicants should possess:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience providing ICT support and consultancy services.
Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, cybersecurity and server administration.
Experience troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in organizational environments.
Knowledge of cloud-based services and backup systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and respond effectively to user needs.
Professional certifications in relevant ICT disciplines will be an added advantage.
